Soccer – Munich – Trapp “disappointed” with the national team – sport break
Munich (dpa) – Kevin Trapp showed what he can do in the surprise victory in Frankfurt in Munich – but the Eintracht goalkeeper is only number four in the national team. “Of course I’m disappointed. No question about it. I have very high goals and I’m very ambitious. My goal is to be part of the national team,” said the 31-year-old after his brilliant performance in the 1 win on Sunday evening.
Trapp has not been nominated by national coach Hansi Flick for the upcoming two games in the World Cup qualification. In the new “Kicker” Flick said: “Manuel Neuer is number 1 for us ahead of Marc-André ter Stegen, Bernd Leno and Kevin Trapp. We communicated that to the players so that everyone knows where they are at the moment.”
Trapp announced on Sunday that he would continue to fight for a place in the national team. “The only thing I can do is bring my performance so that the coaches can’t get past me,” he said in front of the DAZN camera.
In the stands in the Allianz Arena, Flick saw an outstanding Frankfurt goalkeeper on Sunday evening, who made Bayern desperate with ten parades (season best). “I don’t think he’s going to call about that and say you can come now,” said Trapp.
The goalkeeper also reported on a conversation with his Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner before the guest game in Munich: “The coach said yesterday. We need a great goalkeeper. I wanted to give him that today.”
