Economy | Marseille: the City extends the device of “ephemeral terraces”
The City of Marseille has decided. The system of ephemeral terraces set up this summer to allow restaurateurs to resume welcoming customers outside by allowing them to create or double the capacity of their terrace free of charge will be extended. A decision which puts an end to the vagueness which reigned until then, the traders being awaiting instructions because the previous authorization was to end this evening.
The City has just announced in a press release that this possibility would extend until October 31. “This initiative, which was a real success in all the districts of Marseille this summer, was marked by the respect of the charter of commitments signed by the traders”, recalls the municipality.
“This extension will apply, under the same conditions, to establishments that have signed and displayed the City of Marseille charter and whose activity has not generated any difficulties or specific complaints (compliance with opening hours, hygiene and safety measures …) “, specifies the City which is even considering renewing the device next year.
These free exemptions represent, according to the press release, “an effort of more than three million euros” for the City.
“Also, for the only establishments which had no prior authorization to occupy public space and which had signed the charter, the device could be made permanent, including during the winter season. These new terraces will be subject to the regime. of the fee voted in the Municipal Council. A request must be filed with the municipal services before October 15, 2021 “, finally the City.
