Important visit for amateur astronomers on Haunsberg
science
Lisa Kaltenegger is one of the most important astronomers in the world. The native of Kuchler, who actually lives and works in the USA, now visited the VEGA observatory on Haunsberg in Obertrum (Flachgau) on her home leave.
During the night from Monday to Tuesday, the astrophysicist and astronomer will visit the observatory. The amateur astronomers were very happy about it, as it doesn’t happen every day that a world-leading researcher drops by. The Kuchler uses itself in the circle of the Astronomy working group visibly well and welcome.
“I have to say, the observatory here is beautiful, has great instruments, but the team that has them also exudes great energy and you can tell immediately: this is a small astronomical home for everyone,” says Kaltenegger.
State-of-the-art instruments in observatory
The amateur astronomers showed the scientist that state-of-the-art instruments that are only intended for science elsewhere, but are available to them here – and have only been able to do so for three years, since the VEGA observatory was founded. “The devices that are used here are actually identical to those used by the professionals. And of course you’re happy when they see it, ”says Egon Döberl.
Lisa Kaltenegger will definitely stay in contact with the astrophotographers and astronomers at the VEGA observatory.
Astronomers research exoplanets
Last night “Salzburg heute” visited the VEGA observatory on the Haunsberg in Obertrum. The researcher, who works and lives in the USA, is currently on home leave and has stopped by the Salzburg amateur astronomers and looked at the stars.
