More kindergarten apprenticeships against shortages – salzburg.ORF.at
education
At the Salzburg Educational Institute for Elementary Education (BAfEP) there will be 40 additional training places from autumn 2022. The aim is to alleviate the shortage of staff in kindergartens – at least for a longer period of time.
There is to be an additional class for pupils at BAfEP as well as an additional day college class for adults who want to do their second education in kindergartens or crawling rooms. The 40 additional places were agreed in a conversation between Education Councilor Daniela Gutschi (ÖVP), Childcare Councilor Andrea Klambauer (NEOS), BAfEP Director Johannes Gruchmann-Bernau and Magdalena Holztrattner from the Order of the Franciscans, the school keeper.
In the conversation it was determined that at BAfEP “a third class will start in the regular training in autumn 2022,” said Klambauer. “In addition to the part-time course, a day course will also be started. This will create more apprenticeship positions. ”In any case, there was a great rush of BAfEP training:“ We are now responding to this by expanding our capacities, ”added Klambauer.
Relocation to the Borromäum area “fixed”
The move of BAfEP in the city of Salzburg from Schwarzstrasse to the area of the archbishop’s private grammar school Borromäum in Salzburg-Parsch is “fixed”, added Education Councilor Gutschi: “There are only more details to be clarified with the federal government and the archdiocese. In this way we create optimal framework conditions for elementary education training in the central area. “
Currently, around 110 educators complete their training at BAfEP every year. However, there is only an actual minority among the high school graduates at the five-year school who work in kindergartens. This is why the number of annual graduates is too low to meet demand.
Training takes five or three years
It will take some time before the additional classes can alleviate the staff shortage: the BAfEP school education lasts five years. The college for adults is designed to last for three years. The first graduates of the newly established classes will thus complete their training in 2025 or 2027.
