Made the beginning Lorenz Funderburk (fifteen). If he could still fight his way through the preliminary rounds in the well-filled group, he had to admit defeat in the semifinals and won the bronze medal.
Next had to Luis Spitzkat (10), the youngest starter in the team, put his skills to the test. Unfortunately, he could not prevail against a strong opponent from Lebanon and narrowly lost his first fight. Despite the strong performance, he was eliminated in the preliminary round.
It went better then Joel Merle (12). Joel made it through the preliminary round well and fought his way through to the final. Here he met opponents from Ukraine, to whom he had already lost twice this year. This time Joel didn’t give his opponent a chance and deservedly won the world title. Joel said after the fight: “I’m very proud to have found the right remedy against the Ukrainian this time, after it didn’t work twice this year.”
Even Jonas Rennert (13) made it through the preliminary round well. But he also met a strong fighter from Lebanon in the semifinals and narrowly lost the fight. The strong performance was awarded the bronze medal in the end.
Finally, the trainer put the finishing touches Svenja Reimers, died in two age groups after a long break from injuries. If she still had to be satisfied with the silver medal in the final of the + 35-year-olds after a good fight, things went much better for the + 45-year-olds. Here she won her final and secured the world title. “My comeback was successful, it can go on like this now,” she said after the fight. And further: “I am very proud of my entire team again, which has shown a great performance”.
