VENICE | THE MOSE RAISES ONLY 130 CM: APPEAL FROM PIAZZA SAN MARCO – ANTENNA THREE
09/27/2021 VENICE – The decision to raise the Moses only in the presence of high tide higher than 130 cm worries and causes discussion in Venice. In particular in San Marco which this autumn risks flooding very often. || Although still in the experimental phase, they expected a lot more from Moses this autumn in San Marco. The news that in the provisional phase – that is, until 31 December of this year – the gates will only rise with tides exceeding 130 centimeters, was certainly not greeted with enthusiasm by those who live and work in one of the lower areas of Venice, where it starts to flood with 82 centimeters: almost half a meter before the Mose. For about a week the Basilica of San Marco has already been surrounded by construction sites for the installation of glass gates that defend it from high water.
