No race in Mexico for Wohlwend – Liechtenstein
SCHELLENBERG – Fabienne Wohlwend will contest the last two races in the W series on the same racetrack, namely in Austin. The season finale actually planned in Mexico City will not take place due to postponements in the Formula 1 calendar.
The women drivers of the 2019 formula championship for women, the W series, have already completed six of the total of eight showdowns this year. After the races at the premiere two years ago as part of the German Touring Car Championship (DTM), the W-Series has been part of Formula 1 since this year Season finals first go to Texas and then to Mexico.
Two races in one weekend
However, due to shifts in the Formula 1 racing calendar, the W series now had to reschedule. Since the Grand Prix of Mexico in F1 is new on the first weekend in November and not as originally planned at the end of October and is now following Plan B. As the organizers announce, the nun’s last showdowns will both be held on the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas . As the W-Series announces, for logistical reasons it is not possible to drive the final at the same time as Formula 1 in November. Instead, on the weekend of 23./24. I drove two races in October – by the way, it is the first W-Series race to take place outside of Europe.
For Fabienne Wohlwend there is also the opportunity to put her skills to the test on a circuit that is still completely unknown to her. Especially with a view to the last two races in Spa-Francorchamps and Zandvoort, which were overshadowed by the Schellenberger’s heavy crashes and less good placements, the 23-year-old wants to really attack again at the end of the season. In the overall ranking there is still a lot possible for Wohlwend. She is currently fifth with 40 points, 13 points behind fourth and 35 behind third.
