“Bulls” still flawless – Red Bull Salzburg also wins at WAC

In the 9th round of the Admiral Bundesliga, the duel between WAC and Red Bull Salzburg was on the program on Saturday. The serial master celebrated a 0-2 away win in the Lavanttal Arena and continued to defend the “white vest”. After the ninth game day, the people of Mozartstadt hold on to the maximum of 27 points.
The game started as expected. The WAC was compact in its own half and could basically disrupt the attack efforts. However, since the hosts could not secure the often cited “second ball”, the Bulls had a clear visual overweight from the first minute. A blocked shot by Okafor (5th), confusion after a corner and an “excursion” by WAC goalie Kofler (6th) and a deflected cross from Ulmer (7th) were the first exclamation points. In the 15th minute, the series champion finally went well in the lead. After a corner kick from Sucic, “Neo-Defense chief” Onguene hits a head worth seeing to make it 0: 1. On the other hand, the WAC was rarely or hardly able to provide offensive relief. Also because the passport quality of the Carinthians was simply too weak. In the 26th minute there would have been a moment of danger in front of the “bull” goal. After a cross from Röcher, Liendl shaved the ball while attempting a direct decrease. With this situation, the WAC “woke up” and became significantly more courageous. The Carinthians were almost rewarded for it in the 32nd minute. After preparatory work by playmaker Liendl, Röcher hammered the ball onto the pole. In the best phase of the hosts for the WAC, a herbal setback. Within three minutes, central defender Gugganig saw the yellow card for two tactical fouls. The consequence was the yellow-red card in the 44th minute. Break in the Lavanttal Arena 0: 1.
After changing sides, Kristensen set the first exclamation mark in the 47th minute. The early decision was made in 240 seconds. WAC defender Baumgartner forged an Okafor shot into his own goal to make it 0-2 (51st). In addition, the bulls could otherwise get the third hit later. Adeyemi and Aaronson just barely missed a cross from Kristensen (55th). On the other side, Taribo does not put a header in, but on the goal net (57th). Baumgartner falsified an Aaronson shot in the 64th minute. This time the ball went next to the goal. Five minutes later, Red Bull Salzburg was lucky. The already cautioned central defender Bernardo thwarted with a promising attack by the WAC. Instead of the complete free kick at the edge of the penalty area and the expulsion for the Brazilian, the referee allowed the game to continue. A misjudgment! In the 79th minute, the guests would have to score the third goal. The substitutes Sesko and Capaldo easily missed a double chance. On the other side, the WAC would probably have scored the – not entirely undeserved – connection goal in stoppage time. The very conspicuous Baumgartner narrowly missed a free kick by the substitute Vizier. The final score was 0: 2.
In the table, series champion Red Bull Salzburg holds a maximum of 27 points and is the superior leader of the table. On the other hand, the WAC has slipped back to fifth position.
