Abanca CEO announces the introduction of greener and more social lines of business in Portugal – O Jornal Económico
The ‘II Sustainable Finance Meeting: an Iberian perspective’ organized by Abanca, took place this Friday at the Calém cellars, in Porto, and brought the CEO of the Spanish bank, Francisco Botas, to Portugal.
The executive president of Abanca said that “one of the objectives of the Responsible and Sustainable Banking Plan 2021-2024 is to accompany the business fabric in the transition to a new economic model, channeling financing and investment into projects that can transform the economy”.
The CEO of Abanca defended “the progressive introduction of greener and more social lines of business, always with the greatest possible rigor, as part of an ongoing process of transformation in which it is essential to respect each customer’s time”.
Francisco Botas also revealed that “the bank is working to satisfy the demand for sustainable products by investors and the requirements of regulatory and supervisory bodies”.
The result of this line of work, according to Abanca, is the recent launch of three sustainable investment funds, the boost to the Alpha 360 portfolio management model, the first issuance of green bonds by Abanca and the first financing products for new vehicles greens and charging points linked to the EU Next Generation Recovery Funds and the Moves III Plan.
The event, which took place in Porto and was watched by telematics, brought together experts in sustainability and spokespersons for regulators who discussed topics such as sustainability and issuers, the European Union’s regulatory package on Sustainable Finance and sustainability in financial institutions.
