Escape from war and persecution not only forces people to leave their homeland, but for many also leads to separation from their relatives. That is why UNHCR is committed to ensuring that refugees – including temporarily admitted persons – die are given the opportunity to bring their families to the host country.
The topic Family reunion is the subject of two videos produced by the Swedish Red Cross and by the UNHCR office for Switzerland and Liechtenstein in collaboration with the Swiss Red Cross have been adjusted.
Family reunification is a short step back to normal life and is essential for successful integration. Despite being firmly anchored in international and national law, the right to respect for family life of refugees, especially those temporarily admitted, is increasingly being called into question.
