The chief of police has come to the bench
The police chief in Vestmannaeyj has become the assistant coach of the ÍBV men’s handball team and will be there for Erlinga Richardsson, the team’s head coach.
At the end of last year, Selfyssingurn Grímur Hergeirsson was appointed police chief in Eyju and handbolti.is reports on it that he has become the assistant coach of the Eyjalið, and was in that role at his old home ground this weekend when the Ragnarsmót took place in Selfoss.
Grímur has considerable experience in this field, but he was the coach of the Selfyssing men’s team in the 2019-20 season and before that had been its assistant coach for years, including when it became the Icelandic champion in the spring of 2019. Grímur also played with Selfyssing himself in previous years.
He replaces Kristinn Guðmundsson, who coached ÍBV alongside Erling, but has now come to the Faroe Islands and coach there as a team for EB.
Grímur celebrated a victory over his former students because ÍBV beat Selfoss 30:25 in a match for third place in the Ragnarsmót. Hawks and the tournament, but they defeated Framara 27:20 in the final after having a 176-lead in use.
