Truck on fire on the A61 in Narbonne: the motorway was cut in the direction of Toulouse this Thursday morning
A lorry on fire caused the motorway to be cut off at Narbonne 6 km after the junction between the A9 and the A61 in the direction of Toulouse.
Impossible, at the beginning of the morning this Thursday, to go from Narbonne to Toulouse by the motorway. A lorry on fire caused the interruption of traffic. A heavy goods vehicle was on fire on the A61 in the Narbonne/Toulouse direction at km 71 between Narbonne and Lézignan-Corbières.
Coming from Narbonne, in the direction of Toulouse, 6 km after the junction of the A9, the fire of a heavy goods vehicle caused a significant release of smoke. Firefighters rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

Consequence for traffic: a compulsory exit has been set up at exit 38 (Narbonne Sud). A detour route marked in yellow “S24” for cars was in effect and allowed to reach the Lézignan interchange (n°25) on the A61. For heavy goods vehicles, once exiting at Narbonne Sud, a diversion route called “S52” was in place and could join the A61 at Carcassonne Est.
The closure of the A61 resulted in up to 4 km of slowdown.
The highway reopened to traffic at 8:35 a.m.
