Intoxicated rioters: burglary in the Salzburg House of Literature
There was a break-in at the Salzburg Literature House. The perpetrators searched the usual for cash and stole several electronic devices, ransacked the rooms and damaged locks. They left bottles of liquor, beer and wine behind.
SALZBURG. In complete chaos, burglars left the possibility of the Salzburg House of Literature over the weekend. The police are currently investigating. The Literaturhaus team is stunned by the devastation caused. One is particularly annoyed that the obviously intoxicated perpetrators left behind their bottles of spirits, wine and beer. “A senseless and stupid act of vandalism,” according to Tomas Friedmann from the Literaturhaus. Because there is nothing for burglars to get from them.
Noisy burglary
The Salzburg Literature House had to record a not entirely sober burglary last weekend. Unknown perpetrators broke open the locks, rioted and stole two computers, an old television and several smaller electronic devices. The robbers found no money. To top it all off, the burglars left behind empty beer, wine and spirits bottles. Obviously she got drunk during the act. The police are now investigating the burglary.
“Pointless act of vandalism”
In a post about it on Facebook, the Salzburg Literature House called the crime a “stupid act of vandalism.” You are shocked, angry and affected by the pointlessness of the burglary. On top of that, the action caused unnecessary damage of almost 10,000. Nevertheless, the Literaturhaus team did not give up. According to their own statements, they wanted to cause devastation together on Sunday and, thanks to the great popularity of the team, were able to open the gates to the public again on Monday.
In response to a telephone inquiry, Tomas Friedmann, managing director of the Literaturhaus, explained to us: “It is completely pointless to break into our premises. At a cultural site like the Literaturhaus there is no money to be had. And what do you get for an old TV or an old computer? And the stolen new one can be located when it is put into operation, the data is not accessible. If – as in the last attempted break-in – the perpetrators are caught, the Literaturhaus and our insurance company will hold the perpetrators harmless. Last time it was just a broken window, this time it’s going to be quite expensive just to fix the locks and doors.”
Instructions from witnesses to the transfer of the perpetrators are received from every police station and also from the Literaturhaus at [email protected]
