PS asks Banco de Portugal for “all documentation” on intervention in the Eurobic process
Brilhante Dias considered it “very important” to understand “the fundamentals” of this intervention, adding that the PS wants “the documents, the minutes, the technical rationale” that motivated it
The PS will request from the Bank of Portugal “all the documentation and information” that justify an intervention by former governor Carlos Costa in the Eurobic/BPI process, the socialist parliamentary leader announced this Wednesday.
“The PS Parliamentary Group, as a first initiative, will request from Banco de Portugal all documentation and information – whether from the supervisory department or from other departments that Banco de Portugal deems relevant – on the Bank’s intervention process of Portugal in the Eurobic process and especially in the week between 10 and 17 April 2016”, announced Eurico Brilhante Dias at a press conference at the Assembly of the Republic.
Brilhante Dias considered it “very important” to understand “the fundamentals” of this intervention, adding that the PS wants “the documents, the minutes, the technical foundation” that motivated it.
Accompanied by PS leaders Jamila Madeira and Miguel Costa Matos, the socialist parliamentary leader considered that the letter sent by the prime minister on Tuesday night in response to PSD questions about alleged interference in Banco de Portugal shows that it remains, “ in fact, a nebula” about this case.
There is “a part that is not clear, but that does not concern the intervention of the Prime Minister, but of the former governor Carlos Costa, in particular at Banco de Portugal in the context of his intervention at BPI”, he said.
