Portugal Day launches training project to help people in situations of social exclusion
Dia Portugal – the company that owns the Minipreço supermarkets – launched a pilot project to support people in situations of social exclusion. Together with Associação Cais, the company developed a theoretical-practical training program that aims to provide users of this institution with more self-confidence while strengthening their personal skills.

The training will be given by Academia Dia – which is a certified training entity – and will consist of three modules, with a duration of 24 hours in total.
As explained by the entities involved in this project, strengthening those skills can be the differentiating factor in a selection process, whether in the food flap sector or another.
For the executive director of Associação CAIS – which helps around 2.3 million people in poverty and who live in social vulnerability – “this project is exemplary, in that it contributes to a more equal, solidary and sustainable society, betting on people and their abilities”.
For Sandra Pestana, the existence of these programs “allows you to take a path towards greater autonomy, which will allow our beneficiaries access to a set of very useful knowledge and tools for their life and for their personal and professional fulfilment” .

Joana Neto, from the board of directors and Director of Human Resources at Dia Portugal, says that this program aims to make a difference “with people who, after a difficult phase in their lives, are returning to the world of work in a pregnant situation in relation to others”. And she says that “offering participants the key tools for personal autonomy and professional integration is the basis of this project that goes far beyond a” simple “training program”.
