Energy? Portugal was the 4th country that “most supported” families and companies
THE The Ministry of Finance underlined that Portugal was the fourth country in the euro zone that most supported families and companies in 2022 in the face of rising energy prices. The guardianship supports this statement citing data from the European Commission, which show that Portugal grew 2.1% of the gross domestic product (GDP) to these aids.

According to Minister Fernando Medina’s office, the European Commission’s analysis “of the budget projects for 2023 concludes that, in 2022, Portugal obtained 2.1% of the national product to support families and companies“.
According to the same data, ahead of Portugal were Greece, Italy and Malta, the latter being the country that gave the most aid to companies and families.
For this year, “in addition to the support that continues on the ground, such as the fuel discount, the OE2023 reinforced the income of workers, pensioners and social benefits, in particular in the lower incomes”, underlines the Ministry of Finance.
