(Liberal) initiatives for Portugal: few or none!
The weekend that ended yesterday was less calm than usual, at least on the sides of the former FIL, in Lisbon. It was precisely there that the new “Bloco de Direita” was incorporated, the also known “Direita caviar”, which stridently carried out its listening there.
Humor aside, much more is expected from this certain politician. The party in question likes to call itself “liberal”, “innovative” and “contemporary”, so the expectation was above mere arguments and settling scores. That gust of fresh air did not reach Junqueira.
Thus, the liberals’ meeting was flashback of general student meetings at the high school where the results of the election were celebrated with leaps and bounds on a stage. Just that and without the democratic reference to the losers, typical attitudes of those who “want to unite and join forces” to grow.
On the weekend of the farewell of the “father” of IL, the three candidates for succession had their moment of fame. And from the combination of their interventions – excluding the stand-up or start-up moments – there was nothing more than an updated and more hysterical version of the anti-socialist “playlist”.
It is a case to say that if purposes were lacking in the trajectory and importance of the PS, at the very least, without the socialists, the liberals clearly could not say anything, at least to those who expected to hear something directed at the real country.
It should also be remembered that liberals do not use cassettes. They are unapologetically contemporary people who see this audio format as something in bad taste, perhaps because it doesn’t go well with striped sneakers or tweed blazers.
These acts of doing counter politics turn out to be relatively accessible. Why? Because they are based on two main motives: everything and nothing. From there, easy criticism is launched and an excellent subterfuge is found for not presenting solutions or alternatives. These gave work, encouraged research and preparation for the real political debate.
Reflecting a little, perhaps the comfort of ease comes from a reason: in times of absolute majority, it is who governs who finds the solutions. “We liberals are just contrarians.”
The growth of a political force demands a little more from those responsible. It may seem strong, but reflect on the following: is it acceptable that a convenient policy, long and with delays of five hours, does not remove a unique idea for Portugal and the Portuguese?
For some years now, we have witnessed the proliferation of leftist political forces. From this came the “fashion of the Left Block”, a party that was born out of the capacity of several smaller forces. At that time, I felt a breath of fresh air because his way of doing politics revolutionized, in a way, national politics.
At present, something similar is happening on the right. Like BE, IL has become a fashion in which everything is allowed and is legitimate and with which many identify. And that’s where the
more traditional visitors, unhappy or disappointed with the parties”conventional“, there they end up casting their vote.
It turns out that at the extremes, whether left or right, BE or IL, the problem is essentially identical: everything goes well as long as ideology is not discussed. If this “all or nothing” rumor is changed, confusion sets in and the “cat bag” becomes such that the most likely will be watching the “Chronicle of a Death Foretold”.
