Fewer accidents at work in agriculture and forestry
business
The state of Salzburg reports a decrease in accidents at work in agriculture and forestry. Even if the number of reported accidents has fallen significantly over the past three years, the data would still show that this professional group lives dangerously, they say.
The number of accidents at work in agricultural and forestry operations fell from almost 450 in 2019 to 375 in the previous year, the country announced. The most common causes of accidents are falls and crashes off-road, loss of control over machines, tools or means of transport and animals that have become rabid.
Many dangers through various tasks
The fact that farmers and foresters, with 87 accident victims per thousand insured die, lead the statistics of all professional groups in Salzburg, is due to the particular danger of this working environment. Farmers have to cover a wide variety of specialist areas, and working with animals, operating machines and vehicles and working in the forest with increasing time pressure also involves very different levels of risk of injury.
Danger awareness increases
The state inspectors are also observing increasing safety awareness among farmers and farm workers in Salzburg. A large part of the legal safety regulations have been adopted. Complaints are only occasionally necessary.
