Two injured in house fire – salzburg.ORF.at

In the Rif district of Hallein (Tennengau), the volunteer fire brigade extinguished a fire in a residential complex on Saturday night. The situation was dramatic, so the emergency services. There are two injured. A candle initially set fire to a wooden crib, police said.
At around 1.30 a.m. this apartment on the second floor in Rifer Blumengasse was on fire. The emergency services were able to bring the owner to safety using a portable ladder, says district fire brigade commander Josef Tschetschar: “The stairwell was very heavy with smoke. The first goal was to get the person out of the house as quickly and as safely as possible. We have heavily ventilated the stairwell with ventilation technology.”
The firefighters used heavy respiratory protection. One of their main tasks in the densely built-up housing estate was to prevent it from spreading to other houses. Two injured were taken to hospital by the Red Cross.
Large-scale operation with nine vehicles
The mission was – also because of the difficult road conditions in the dead of winter. The property damage is great, an exact amount is not yet known.
66 volunteer men and women from the Hallein and Niederalm fire brigades were deployed with twelve vehicles. The teams were able to move back in after two hours and go to sleep.
