Majority of the capital of Lauak Portugal passes into French hands
Lauak Sarl, the French counterpart of Lauak Portugal, acquired 68.7% of the company from Ama Lur Enoturismo SA, thus ensuring control of the Portuguese aeronautics company.
Founded in 1975 under the name ESKULANAK, by its current co-manager Jean-Marc Charritton, the LAUAK Group began its activity by supplying sheet metal components to Dassault Aviation. Almost 50 years later, it is one of the main manufacturers and suppliers of primary components, subassemblies and assemblies for the aeronautical industry, in particular for Airbus and Dassualt, which is mainly dedicated to military aviation and executive aircraft. Lauak Portugal’s turnover is currently around €50 million in exports.
The Setúbal factory, which presents itself as LAUAK Portugal, was created in 2003 in the old Renault facilities. LAUAK aeroestruturas Grândola was inaugurated in October 2019, after an investment of around 32 million euros.
The Lauak Group, which has factories in France, Portugal, Canada and Mexico, is led by Mikel Charritton and Jean-Marc Charritton. In Portugal, Lauak was established by the hand of Armando Gomes, having in the meantime secured a reference position in the sector, and employing more than 700 people in the factories of Setúbal and Grândola.
The transaction between the Portuguese and French groups was carried out with the support of the Caiado Guerreiro team led by João Caiado Guerreiro who, in a statement sent to the newsrooms, highlighted the collaboration with the law firm in France, in a work carried out in two jurisdictions, where Caiado Guerreiro’s multidisciplinary team “demonstrated all its knowledge in areas such as M&A and Tax, and a long experience in representing international investors”, he explains.
It should be recalled that in 2020 Lauak moved forward with a collective redundancy process due to the aviation crisis, which caused a 70% drop in the number of orders.
