Colorful potpourri: the city of Salzburg shows itself in all its diversity
From January 19th to February 25th, the state capital presents itself from its opening and colorful side.
SALZBURG. With a decisive potpourri of events, the “Month of Diversity” will once again be discussed, celebrated and laughed at.
Real participation enabled
The program includes readings, workshops, movies, cabaret evenings and much more. “In the month of diversity we celebrate that Salzburg is more than festivals and Mozart. Our society is colorful – we are poor, rich, young, old, born here or moved here. And only if everyone really feels addressed can I be sure that I’m not excluding anyone. That is real participation,” emphasizes Social Councilor Anja Hagenauer at the program presentation. The Month of Diversity is organized by the “Team Diversity” with the aim of enabling inclusion and participation for everyone in Salzburg.
On a “queer search for clues” in the museum
The program sometimes invites you to the “Diversity Walk of Religions”, during which Muslim, Jewish, Eastern Church and Catholic communities are visited.
Under the title “Queer history(ies) in Salzburg – a search for clues”, a tour of the exhibition “Salzburg unique” in the Salzburg Museum invites you to trace Salzburg’s queer history – from antiquity to the present. At a workshop on queer education, HOSI Salzburg imparts basic knowledge on LGBTQIA* issues in everyday work and raises awareness of “queer” issues. The participants should therefore become aware of discrimination in relation to gender and sexual orientation.
Cabaret and Language Festival
DIE KABARETT also has a permanent place. FESTIVAL, which takes place in the “Small Theater”. Cabaret artist David Stockenreitner invites you to his cabaret “Down” at the OFF-Theater. Among other things, the world language festival “Hello World” takes place in the city library, during which the individual continents are traveled through in literature. Finally, on February 24 from 4 p.m., the “Festival of Diversity” will take place in the Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace.
With the exception of “DIE KABARETT” all events are free and barrier-free. “This is how we create leisure activities for everyone in Salzburg, even in times of inflation,” adds Hagenauer.
