City of Salzburg – We make Salzburg colorful: 10 years of diversity month
Women, people with disabilities, young people and integration – these are the focal points of the diversity team in the city of Salzburg. The task: to enable inclusion and participation for everyone in Salzburg. “In the month of diversity we celebrate that Salzburg is more than festivals and Mozart. Our society is colorful – we are poor, rich, young, old, born here or moved here. And only if really Everyone feel addressed, I can be sure not to exclude anyone. That is real participation,” said the responsible city councilor Anja Hagenauer about the campaign.
Free and barrier-free events for everyone
There will also be discussions, celebrations and laughter again, including readings, workshops, movies, cabaret evenings and much more. And: With the exception of “DIE KABARETT”, all events are free of charge – and also barrier-free. “This is how we create leisure activities for everyone in Salzburg, even in times of inflation. Our diversity team has again put a lot of effort this year and the program is really impressive,” Anja Hagenauer continued.
Reading by author Mareike Fallwickl and “Integration Cabaret” as highlights
The Salzburg author Mareike Fallwickl reads from her current book “The anger that remains, we go on a “queer search for traces” in the city library and several film evenings not only offer cool content on the screen, but also plenty of material for discussion. About topics that are usually not on the screen: Sexual self-determination or talking to each other in the film “Atelier de Conversation”.
Above all, the laughing muscles should be trained in the gray season: In addition to the sixth edition of “DIE KABARETT.FESTIVAL”, this is mainly ensured by neo-cabaret artist David Stockenreitner. Even with a physical birth, with his program “Down” he goes on a humorous search for mental balance, the blue pill and dialogue with Austrian officials. And in doing so, the question of whether one is allowed to laugh about one’s own disability reacts quite incidentally.
Exhibition in the Wolf-Dietrich-Halle
On the occasion of the 10-year anniversary, the campaign not only got a new design, but also new, cool models from various areas were shot for the campaign. A separate diversity exhibition is hanging in the Wolf-Dietrich-Halle until the end of February.
Festival of Diversity
A festival, colourful, loud, funny, with lots of music and action: at the end of the series of events, the Festival of Diversity will take place as usual. This year on February 24th, from 4 p.m. in the Marble Hall in Mirabell Palace. More information will follow on the city’s website.
