2022 of the Rimini Traffic Police
It’s time to take stock and like every year, the Rimini Traffic Police, a specialty of the State Police, sums up the activities carried out in 2022, with 2,116 patrols employed in road surveillance in 2022 who checked 13,450 people and contested 12,677 traffic violations There were 1,139 violations ascertained for excess speed, 410 driving licenses and 318 vehicle registration certificates were withdrawn. The driving license points reduced were 22,069. 9,182 drivers were checked with breathalyzers and precursors, of which 347 were sanctioned for driving under the influence of alcohol while those reported for driving under the influence of drugs were 30. The accident phenomenon remained almost unchanged compared to 2021. In in particular, compared to 340 total road accidents against 334 in 2021, there were 6 fatal accidents with 7 victims with an increase of 50%, while accidents with injuries were 207 compared to 85 the previous year. Checks continued in the professional transport sector which involved both policemen and employees of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, who checked 2,384 heavy vehicles, ascertaining 3,509 infringements and withdrawing 75 driving licenses. The activity of the judicial police was also particularly effective, dealing with about 259 files, allowing 5 people to be arrested and others to be reported in a state of freedom. 254. There were 40 public establishments checked and 8 infringements detected. Also on the prevention front, the Traffic Police has spared no energy to achieve the ambitious goal of eliminating the number of road fatalities. All road users, from the pedestrian, to the scooter driver, up to the haulier, must be aware that only with correct behavior can one’s own life and that of others be saved. The watchword must therefore be “prevention” which must find application in the various sectors such as the regulatory one or in infrastructural adaptations, but it must also be the driving force for a real cultural revolution that places the individual and his conduct in the spotlight and consider him the main architect of his own destiny. CARO, BICISCUOLA, CHIRONE AND ANIA CARES, DRIVING AND ENOUGH, SAFE WINTER AND SAFE HOLIDAYS are just some of the many road safety education campaigns with which the Traffic Police spread the culture of conscious driving. Equally numerous are the awareness-raising initiatives carried out in the province of Rimini with the use of the Blue Pullman of the State Police, a real “itinerant teaching room” which, with the driving simulator, the thrilling route and other interactive tools, brings together thousands of young people every year, offering them concrete proof of how risky it is to adopt incorrect or dangerous behavior on the road. Overall, the traffic police met over 950 students during the numerous road safety education interventions, and involved them in ever new and effective training activities. It is precisely young people who are the “privileged” recipients of educational campaigns because they are our best “testimonials” of the culture of safe driving with family and friends, contributing to a widespread diffusion of correct and aware behavioral models.
