RedBull Salzburg and Kamil Piatkowski go their separate ways for the time being. As reported by the leaders of the Bundesliga, the Polish defender will join the Belgian first division club KAA Gent until the end of the season. Since moving to Austria in the summer of 2021, the 22-year-old defensive professional has made 20 appearances for the Austrian series champion, with two assists.
“A Complete Defender”
The three-time Poland international made only three appearances in the Bundesliga and one game in the ÖFB Cup this season. He was only in the starting XI twice, Piatkowski played his last competitive game under head coach Matthias Jaissle on the 14th matchday in a 1-0 win over TSV Hartberg, where the defender was in action for the entire season. In fifth place in the table of the Belgian Jupiter Pro League, the defensive talent should get more playing time after he was unable to establish himself in the starting XI of the table leaders from the city of Mozart in the fall.
“We’re delighted that we managed to convince Kamil to come to Gent. He’s a player we’ve followed closely since his time in Poland. Now that we’ve had the chance to get him, we haven’t hesitated. Kamil is a complete defender, physically strong, fast and with good feet. He wants to prove himself for sure. We look forward to seeing him play soon,” said Gent chief scout Samuel Cardenas.
