Onguéné plant Return in summer
Jerome Onguéné has returned to his old club RB Salzburg. But the Eintracht Frankfurt defender doesn’t want to stay there for long.
Frankfurt – For Jerome Onguéné, who last summer too Eintracht Frankfurt Change was, it was anything but good in the first half of the season. First a thigh strain forced him to take a break, then an adductor injury occurred. The result: He couldn’t play a single game for the SBU. In winter, those responsible for Eintracht decided because of a loan, the 24-year-old central defender returns to his former club RB Salzburg. There he should gain match practice.
The loan deal is planned until the summer, when Onguéné definitely wants to return to Frankfurt, as he revealed in an interview with the sports magazine Kicker. “I will return to Frankfurt in the summer and I know that my time there will only really begin then,” he said. There is no doubt that he will fulfill his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, which runs until 2027. Another loan seems out of the question for the 24-year-old.
Onguéné knows: “My time at Eintracht Frankfurt will come”
He returned to Salzburg because he felt at home there. “I spent very good years here and still have many friends. I also know the goals and philosophy of the club. That makes it easier for me to gain match practice and integrate myself straight away,” he said in the interview. Eintracht Frankfurt should also have been satisfied with the top-class customer. Now it’s up to the 24-year-old to gain match practice and stay fit.
Because according to Onguéné, the aftermath of his attacks were to blame for him being coached Oliver Glasses has not yet been used at Eintracht Frankfurt. “But I know that my time in Frankfurt will come. I’ll do good things there and give 100 percent for it, of course now at Salzburg,” he told Kicker.
Eintracht Frankfurt: Hardly any differences to training in Salzburg
An additional advantage of the loan to Salzburg could also be that the training of both teams is very similar. “There is not a big difference between these teams – neither in quality nor in training sessions. It’s almost on par,” he said. Onguéné believes that Eintracht Frankfurt wants to play the same football as Salzburg. “The training units are very similar, there are only small differences.” That is not surprising, coach Oliver Glasner also comes from Salzburg, but has been quite successful with his method at the SBU so far.
