Case Teichtmeister: ORF continues crime series “Die Toten von Salzburg” without Teichtmeister
In “Schattenspiel”, the ninth autumn of the crime series “Die Toten von Salzburg” (top rating with an average of around 800,000 viewers on ORF), which was broadcast on January 6, Florian Teichtmeister only appears in the approximately 45-long final scene, which the ZDF broadcast (January 25) is to be cut out. “Schattenspiel” was shot in spring 2022. But why was it almost without the Burgtheater star back then? It was only half a day of shooting for him, the award-winning actor (43) was under contract with the commissioned Viennese production company “Satel” (also for “Soko Donau”).
“In the run-up to the production, initial suspicions were expressed in media reports. The production company held talks with Teichtmeister, in which he was able to credibly deny all the allegations,” explains the ORF on request.
Nevertheless, it was “agreed with “Satel” and ZDF that a continuation of his role to the usual extent could only take place if all allegations were officially invalidated – a short scene at the end, which should say goodbye to his character, not to be seen.”
ORF and ZDF have decided to continue the highly rated “Dead of Salzburg” series, which is also coveted by TV critics. Two screenplays – i.e. for the ten and eleven films in the TV series that started in 2016 – are already in development, but no new investigator character is to be added instead of Major Palfinger. Michael Fitz (Bavarian Inspector Hubert), Fanny Krausz (Salzburg Inspector Irene) and Erwin Steinhauer (Councillor Seywald) would suffice as protagonists.
