Alessandro Mancini: “I have never abused my political position”. NPR adviser responds to opposition attacks. His lawyer, Atty. Carlo Biagioli underlines that for some time Mancini has been subjected to low blows, trips and abuses
After being brought up by opposition parties, Alessandro Mancini, adviser to NPR, decided to break the silence by giving his version of events at a press conference, and denouncing “the mud machine orchestrated for some time against me and the institutions”. Mancini is accompanied by his lawyer, the lawyer. Carlo Biagioli, who underlines how long Mancini is object of tripping, low blows and prevarications.
Probably the decision to appear was also the ruling of Thursday’s trial, which saw him as an injured party in an aggravated defamation proceeding when he held the position of Captain Regent. Before giving the floor to the NPR adviser, Biagioli specified that Mancini correctly reported his personal debts, amounting to 12,000 euros, while he did not report the debts secured through guarantees to protect the privacy of third parties.
“A bad page ended with yesterday’s sentence”, Mancini then explains, who adds that “it is necessary to take a position on the facts these days, and to reply to the heavy allegations made by the opposition”. He says he is serene, with the knowledge, he says, that he has not engaged in any unlawful conduct, and “in the absolute certainty that he has never abused my political position to obtain preferential treatment, something that instead they are trying to pass on to the people of San Marino” .
Mancini recalls that he has been on the Board since 2016, and that in recent years he has taken away a lot of time from family and work. “If I had totally dedicated myself to my activities, perhaps these problems would not exist at all”. On the Code of Ethics he points out that it was approved by the Council also thanks to his work. On the opposition’s request for his resignation from the position of President of the Finance Commission, Mancini specified that he had not asked for that role and that his debt position was well known at the time of his appointment. “I’m not attached to the chair – he says – if I intend to reflect on my role I am serene: first of all I think of the country and the institutions”. He sends the accusations to the sender, speaking of “instrumental attacks” by political forces who decided to “sell off” Carisp’s NPLs in the Finance Commission. His wish is “that this mud season will be definitively archived and that space will be given to common sense and love for this country”.
