Hurricane Frederic is heading to Europe, bringing winter weather back to Slovakia
A change is coming to Europe, which will be started by low pressure Frederic, which will probably bring very windy weather and, subsequently, relatively heavy precipitation. In addition, however, colder air will come to us from the northwest, which will cause us to return to the classic winter weather.
another wave of unfavorable European weather awaits. It will be the fault of the depression, which has been given the name “Frederic”, and this depression is currently located over the North Sea, while it is slowly moving towards Scandinavia.
Frederic will bring very windy weather to Europe, which can cause damage, and strong winds are also expected in our territory. The main benefit of this low pressure will be that over our continent, however, a colder flow will benefit, and cold air will gradually move over many countries in Europe, which will bring another wave of snow.
Windy weather awaits us
The last days will be very windy in Europe. It is already windy in the area of the British Isles, where gusts of wind attack the 100 km/h limit even in lower areas. However, it will also blow up in our area during Sunday.
Strong winds are expected in France tomorrow afternoon, Benelux, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and also Slovakia. The strongest winds should blow in Germany and France, where wind gusts at lower altitudes will reach gusts of up to 90 km/h. The strongest winds are expected in the mountains, where wind gusts could reach speeds of up to 120 km/h.
The wind will start to get stronger in Slovakia already during the night on Sunday, while the strongest wind is expected on Sunday morning. Wind gusts should reach a speed of up to 60 km/h in our territory, but wind gusts will reach a speed of up to 100 km/h in the mountains.
Frederic starts dry and cold weather
However, low pressure Frederic will also have an impact on the return of colder, winter weather to our continent. Cooling will open and at the same time, secondary pressure troughs will deepen over the Mediterranean Sea and over the Adriatic Sea, which will move towards Slovakia and bring relatively abundant precipitation totals.
Since it is possible, the return of snow must also be expected. The first wave of precipitation will arrive in our territory on Sunday during the day, and the next wave of precipitation will arrive as part of the pressure below from the Adriatic on Monday morning.
More rain waves are expected almost every day and will come from the west to southwest. The exact progress of the centers of low pressure will affect the state of precipitation. The snow line will thus rise and fall. Where and on which days snowfall is expected in individual areas on the next page HERE.
