The Swedish supermarket chain renews its flagship with digital signage
The Swedish supermarket chain Maxi ICA has renewed its flagship store, Stormarknad Universitetet in Örebro city, with a major focus on the retail trade digital signage via PPDS is shown, according to a press release.
Part of the ICA Group, a retail chain with 1,300 stores and over a third of the market share, Stormarknad Universitetet has presented its digital makeover results, focusing on a Philips L-Line 7000 Series DVLED video wall, with approximate dimensions of 52 feet in width and barely six feet in height. Designed with sustainability in mind, the video wall is estimated to be up to 20 percent more energy efficient than comparable models, and it controls a pick-and-mix center while being visible throughout the store.

The project also involved replacing almost all paper-based signage with Philips D-line 75-inch-to-86-inch digital displays, including 4K-capable models.
The store owners said their goals were in part to reduce paper waste and become more sustainable, along with making messages more current and easier to update.
“Our goal is to be the first choice for a customer when it comes to buying food, which means we have to give them a different experience,” says Erik Svedmark, store manager at Maxi ICA Stormarknad Universitetet, in the press release. .
