Bulten streamlines the supply chain in Sweden
After a review of its global distribution chain, Bulten will close one of the two logistics centers in Sweden, at a cost of approx. SEK 1.5 million.
The review comes as Bulten strives for more efficient logistics to reduce lead times and streamline processes, while reducing costs and environmental impact.
Making greater use of the capacity in warehouses near production units enables a more efficient supply chain, says the group. Therefore, significant investments have been made in a new warehouse near Bulten’s factory in Germany, as well as in a new surface treatment plant and a logistics center in Poland. The streamlining means that Bulten’s logistics center in Gothenburg, one of the company’s two such centers in Sweden, will be closed.
“Making the distribution chain more efficient will enable better transport flows and thus also reduce the environmental impact. We also reduce costs and tied up capital, says Anders Nyström, President and CEO of Bulten.
The goods flows that previously passed through Bulten’s logistics center in Gothenburg will now be handled by the center in Hallstahammar, Sweden, as well as by the aforementioned logistics centers in Germany and Poland. Ten employees will be affected and union negotiations have begun. The closing is scheduled to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2023.
