‘The cut of excise duties? Only with more revenue’
In his traditional appointment “Giorgia’s notes” the presidency of the council Giorgia Meloni intervenes on fuel excise duties. “Instead of spreading 10 billion – he declares – we have decided to concentrate resources about who he needed more. We have made a choice which resells and which is of social justice“. “They tell us that we made a mistake in the calculations – he adds – I’ve heard everything, I’m monitoring the price of petrol. The figure that was published on the Made in Italy ministry website was 1,812, a price that we would like to be lower, however, when it changes compared to that experienced in previous years”.
“To cut excise duties, we could not have increased the health fund, the household audience to calm domestic bills, for SME credits: all these measures would have been canceled to provide for the cut in excise duties”. “I am convinced of the choices I made – he adds – because I think it was more sensible help those on low wages – said Meloni -, who didn’t have a job, who can’t do the shopping rather than use the resources to allow me to say, I’m talking about myself, that in any case I have a respectable paid man to pay for petrol less . This is a government that has to make choices.”
In the comments, the prime minister also responds to the opposition, which asked her to account for the voice of the Fdi program which talks about the sterilization of state revenues from energy and fuel, with an automatic”reduction of VAT and excise duties“. “Means – specify – that if you have more enter from rising fuel prices you use them to lower taxes. But we didn’t have more income, of course. So it’s about di a very different commitment than ‘we will cut excise duties’. An objective that we continue to share and on which we will work, but a commitment that we could not make in the current context”.
In the meantime, the managers speculate on a strike. A meeting between the three singles representing the fuel managers: Faib-Confesercenti, Fegica and Figisc-Confcommercio put on the table the request for a meeting with the Government to take stock after the decree. Other initiatives are also being evaluated, including a gas station strike at the end of the month. But nothing is decided yet.
