Only two clubs make more transfer profit than Salzburg – football
Champion Salzburg was able to bring in a transfer profit of 76.1 million euros last year, which puts them in third place in the European ranking.
Erling Haaland, Dominik Szoboszlai, Patson Daka, Karim Adeyemi and Brenden Aaronson – just a few examples of Salzburg’s successful transfer policy in recent years. Since the 2015/16 season, mastermind Christoph Freund has been head of sport for the Mozart city-dwellers and is therefore jointly responsible for the Bulls’ big transfer wins.
Last season, the Austrian series champion was able to earn transfer income of 105.6 million euros. The most recent departure was ÖFB defender Maxi Wöber, who was sold to Premier League club Leeds for twelve million euros. Only in the 2019/20 season could you look forward to more income. At that time, the transfers of Xaver Schlager, Stefan Lainer and Co. flushed a whopping 113.75 million euros into the cops’ coffers.
Due to player sales, Salzburg are dueling with the top European clubs in the ranking of the clubs with the highest income. Ninth place is just ahead of Bayern Munich (104.1) and just a hair’s breadth behind top Italian club Juventus Turin (108.33). Ajax Amsterdam continues to be the leader with revenues of 216.22 million euros.
The top ten in the ranking:
1. Ajax-Amsterdam (216, 22 million)
2.Manchester City (159.9 million)
3. AS Monaco (155 million)
4. Benfica Lisbon (138 million)
5. Sporty Lisbon (119.8 million)
6.Brighton (113.9 million)
7. Leeds United (113 million)
8. Juventus (108.33 million)
9. Red Bull Salzburg (105.6 million)
10. Bayern Munich (104.1 million)
Third place in transfer profit ranking
While Europe’s top clubs mostly invest their profits in expensive new signings, the bulls prefer to remain modest. If you deduct the expenses for new players in the past year, the Salzburgers have a profit of 76.1 million euros.
This puts them in a strong third place in the ranking of clubs with the highest transfer profits. Only AS Monaco with 111.5 million euros and Ajax Amsterdam with 103.12 million euros are ahead of the Austrian champions.
