Offensive posts against Linda Cerruti: 12 reported
The facts date back to last August, when the Italian champion Linda Cerrutti won the beauty of 8 medals at the European Synchronized Swimming Championships in Rome. A triumph that Cerruti decided to celebrate by posting a photo of her on her social networks in which she appeared in a swimsuit, in a classic synchronized swimming pose. The photo, taken on the pier of Noli, her hometown in the province of Savona, had been taken up by many newspapers and had attracted numerous comments, some of which were clearly defamatory. The European champion, embittered by her unpleasant story, decided to report to the postal police whoever had insulted her. The investigations coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Savona made it possible to identify 12 users believed to be the authors of the most shared defamatory comments. Among these a Roman employee, fifty years old; a Venetian worker; owed pensioners residing in Lombardy; a civil servant residing in Friuli and a thirty-year-old resident in Sardinia. People for whom a computer search has been arranged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office while the other six have been summoned to the Operational Centers of their city and will have to answer for the crime of aggravated defamation. “This operation – the investigators say – once again denies those who think that anonymity on the net can be exploited to commit computer crimes”.
