Coronavirus: Kraken is apparently already in Slovakia

BRATISLAVA. Despite the recession of the pandemic situation, it is Covid-19 still present in Slovakia. Most recently, the omicron subtype XBB.1.5, which was named after the ominous mythical giant cephalopod capable of sinking ships – the Kraken, is being pushed to Slovakia.
“I do not consider it happy that such arbitrarily giving ominous names to variants such as the kraken,” responds virologist Boris Klempa from the Biomedical Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Charles University. According to him, it causes unnecessary panic.

Experts interviewed by SME agree that it is as infectious as its predecessors, but it is highly unlikely to fill the hospital, as we have seen in the last two years.
Although the kraken has not yet been caught in Slovakia, most experts agree that it is already circulating among the population.
