Bertelli confirms switch to Toyota for Rally Sweden
The WRC part-timer revealed that he will drive a fourth Toyota Gazoo Racing Yaris, usually driven by Takamoto Katsuta.
With Katsuta sharing a car this season with Sébastien Ogier in Toyota Gazoo Racing’s main team, team principal Jari-Matti Latvala had already hinted at the end of last year that their fourth car would be available for private users at events when Ogier is not racing and Katsuta is moving into the Frenchman’s seat, suggesting Ogier will not race in Sweden and Katsuta will take his position, freeing up the fourth car for the 32-year-old Bertelli.
Bertelli has over 60 starts in the WRC, the majority of which have come behind the wheel of a Ford in a relationship that started back in 2013. He last competed for M-Sport Ford at the Repco Rally New Zealand last September.
“Can’t wait for this new adventure at my favorite WRC rally of the season” – said the Facebook page of the Bertelli rally team. It is likely that longtime co-driver Simone Scattolin will feature on his sheet music.
