Istanbul became the export champion of 2022
Istanbul continued to be the province in Turkey’s highest export destination by paying 39.1 percent in the past year.
According to the management of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM), foreign sales of enterprises in Istanbul increased by 12 percent in 2022 compared to 2021 and rose to 99.4 billion.
Passengers in Istanbul, which has an important application in global trade, continued to transport them all over the world in 2022.
In order to meet the demands from all sectors operating in Istanbul, it increased its capacities last year.
234 ports export from Istanbul
The Istanbul-based company, which delivered it to 234 destinations in the world last year, had a 39.1 percent share in Turkey’s sales.

Istanbul with 19.2 billion dollars, Kocaeli with 16.2 billion dollars, İzmir with 13.9 billion dollars, Ankara with 11.6 billion dollars, Gaziantep with 10.5 billion dollars, Manisa with 5.2 billion dollars, 4.9 billion dollars. Sakarya with $ 4.7 billion, Denizli with $ 3.6 billion, and Hatay with $ 3.6 billion.
The highest increase in exports is in luggage from Istanbul
Last year, Istanbul residents realized the highest number of export stories. Foreign sales of businesses in Istanbul increased by 10 billion 649 million dollars in 2022 compared to 2021.
Ankara with 2 billion 268 million dollars, Kocaeli with 2 billion 190 million dollars, İzmir with 1 billion 703 million dollars, Bursa with 931 million 765 thousand dollars, Adana with 517 million 103 thousand dollars, Gaziantep with 430 million 440 thousand dollars, 398 million 436 thousand dollars. Mersin was followed by Konya with 266 million 705 thousand dollars and Kayseri with 248 million 972 thousand dollars.
In this period, Adana exported 3 billion dollars, Mersin 2 billion 985 million dollars, Konya 3 billion 262 million dollars, Kayseri 3 billion 145 million dollars.
The biggest export was made by the chemical sector.
On a sectoral basis, last year in the world, the most exported chemical goods and products were carried out in Istanbul. The chemical goods and products company in the city made 17 billion 657 million exports in 2022.
The chemical goods and products industry was followed by the ready-made clothing and apparel industry with 14 billion 718 million dollars, the steel industry with 10 billion 201 million dollars, the ferrous and non-ferrous metals with 7 billion 818 million dollars, and the electrical and electronics industries with 7 billion 668 million dollars.
The most demand came from Germany
Last year, the highest demand for consumer products from Istanbul came from Germany.
In 2022, 8 billion 352 million dollars were sold from Istanbul to Germany.
Germany was followed by the USA with 5 billion 679 million dollars, the United Kingdom with 5 billion dollars, Italy with 4 billion 418 million dollars, and Spain with 3 billion 910 million dollars.
