Car crashes into ambulance – 2 dead in horror crash – Salzburg
There was a terrible accident in Salzburg’s Pinzgau on Saturday evening. A car and an ambulance crashed head-on.
A large contingent of four emergency doctors, four ambulances, a helicopter and firefighters were on duty in Taxenbach in Salzburg’s Pinzgau on Saturday evening. On the B311 there was a frontal accident between a car and an ambulance around 5.30 p.m., reports the “Salzburger Nachrichten”.
Fatal: At the time of the accident, a patient was being transported in the Red Cross car who was on his way to the Schwarzach hospital. The driver of the oncoming car should have died immediately, and the patient also died at the scene of the accident.
Both cars had to be cut open using hydraulic rescue equipment (mountain shears and spreaders), reports the Lend volunteer fire brigade on Facebook.
Prosecutor determined
The driver of the ambulance was also seriously injured, he had to be rescued by the fire brigade and taken with him ambulance helicopter be flown to the hospital in Salzburg. The passenger was only slightly injured. A crisis intervention team is deployed.
“Our thoughts are with the families and relatives of the victims of the accident. Despite the rapid deployment of four emergency doctors and paramedics at the scene of the accident, we were unable to save two lives,” district rescue commander Anton Voithofer explains to the “SN”.
The exact cause of the accident is still unclear – the public prosecutor is investigating.
