Iran, the complaint of the lawyer of a condemned to death: gruesome torture
Horror and hope: the two faces of repression. While a terrified and incredulous Bologna weeps Mehdi Zare Ashkzarithe young man who had studied in the Emilian capital and died after twenty days in a coma following torture in prison for having taken part in the protests, the iron fist of the Iranian regime this time strikes a 18 year old protesteragainst which the judiciary issued a double sentence of Death penalty. He is accused of ‘war against God’ and denied defense by a lawyer. Also awaiting execution is Mohammad Hosseini, one of five protesters accused of having played an effective role in the murder of a paramilitary. The story of the lawyer makes you shiver, complaint gruesome torture: Hosseini was hit in the eyes, with kicks in the head and with an iron bar on the soles of his feet and body. Hope, on the other hand, has the face of three other defendants, including a radiologist: the Supreme Court has overturned the verdict of death of the Revolutionary Tribunal. And they breathe a sigh of relief too 4 footballers, released from prison for attending a party with women and alcohol. The cry of those who ask for justice, equality and democracy in Iran remains unheard, and after more than a hundred days of protests continues to end up in blood. While for the opponents of the regime in exile 2023 will be the year of freedom and justice, it’s a new squeeze on fast, with the Iranian police having resumed monitoring the wearing of the hijab by women in cars. This is the new phase of the surveillance programme Nazir-1launched by the police in 2020. The world is indignant, and there are those who take action, such as the British governmentwhich will include the Revolutionary Guard of Iran in the list of terrorist organizations: according to the Telegraph, the decision will be announced in the coming weeks and has the backing of the Interior Minister. The Revolutionary Guard was founded as the ideological guardian of the Iranian revolution of 1979, but has since developed into an important military, political and economic strength of the country.
