Defeat: VSV loses 5-2 to Innsbruck after a two-goal lead
At first it looked like revenge in Innsbruck, with Villach leading 2-0 at times. But then the Tyroleans unpacked their scoring qualities and won 5:2.
INNSBRUCK. The game started excellently for Villach: Philipp Lindner jubilantly turned away in the second minute of the game. His shot wasn’t unstoppable, but Innsbruck goalie McCollum let it pass. After that it went back and forth, there were some penalties. Just before the end of the first third there was a lot of excitement, because Chris Collins put the puck in the Tyrolean net with the break siren. The video evidence revealed: Goal! The blue and whites took a 2-0 lead. It looked as if Villach would get revenge for the home defeat against the Tyroleans at Christmas. In the second third, Villach continued to press at the beginning, but missed chances. Then the tide turned: Innsbruck dominated the game, the result was a goal in the 33rd minute by Krogsgaard, who scored for the first time of the season. Both sides had chances in the final section, but Innsbruck showed why the team is in first place. Top scorer Brady Shaw equalized from close range (45′).
