Graça Freitas will leave the leadership of the Directorate-General for Health, advances the observer.
As confirmed by CNN Portugal, Graça Freitas communicated to the Ministry of Health (MS) her desire not to renew her mandate, which ends this Friday, remaining, however, at the head of the DGS until a new public tender is opened to become elect the person who will occupy the position.

His permanence in office is assured until he is replaced, thanking the Ministry of Health for the availability shown by the Directorate-General for Health at the end of its mandate and for all the commitment and dedication in leading the Directorate-General for Health over the last few years, in a special way in response to the pandemic, the biggest global public health crisis of the last century”, reads the note from the Ministry of Health sent to CNN Portugal.
According to the portfolio supervised by Manuel Pizarro, “the designation of the future holder of the position of Director General of Health will follow the legal procedure, in obedience to the rules of recruitment, selection and filling of positions of superior management of the Public Administration”, being that ” the choice will naturally be made within a profile that fits within the framework of the DGS’s competences, where they will always remain present as responsibilities of the National Health Authority in the response to health and public health emergencies”.
