Séamus Kealy leaves Salzburg for Canada
Séamus Kealy, director of the Salzburger Kunstverein since 2014, is returning to his native Canada in April. Born in 1972 in Vanguard, Canada, Kealy removes art from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver (Canada). In addition to his artistic work, he organized exhibitions in Vancouver during this time. From 2002 to 2003 he lived in Vienna and then did his diploma in Critical Curatorial Studies at the University of British Columbia. From 2005 to 2008 he was curator of the Blackwood Gallery at the University of Toronto. He then moves to The Model in Sligo, Ireland as Director and Artistic Director, leading it to become one of the leading contemporary art houses. For the Salzburger Kunstverein he curated exhibitions with Omer Fast, Camille Henrot, Stan Douglas, Hans Schabus, Nedko Solakov and many others.
In Canada, effective April 3, Kealy will take on the position of Executive Director of Oakville Galleries, a two-site non-profit museum in Oakville, a city of approximately 200,000 on Lake Ontario, south of Toronto.
It has not yet been announced who will succeed Séamus Kealy in Salzburg.
