Minimum consumption cost in Istanbul is 10,606 TL
As a result of the research carried out by the Turkish Economic Enterprise and Business Ethics Association (İGIAD), the human burden cost (IGU) for the monthly burden of human conditions for an average family in Istanbul was determined as 10,606 TL for the year 2023.
The IGIAD Human Living Wage (IGU) Determination Commission determines the human access fee level wage level required for families of different backgrounds in Turkey with a research it conducts in December every year. The work carried out by IGIAD for Istanbul under the name Minimum Living Wage (AGU) since 2004 was revised as IGU as of 2014, and more advanced methods were used in the calculation. Based on the increase in monthly human cost costs for a family of four with two children to lead a dignified life, this research reveals that a family; includes food, clothing, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, furniture, appliances and home care, health, transportation, transmission, entertainment and culture, education services and other expenses. According to the calculations made using the interest generated by TURKSTAT, a minimum wage of 10,606 TL (including premiums, bonuses, aids, etc.) must be paid to a worker in Istanbul in order to support his family.
