in 2022 66 animals found a new family
A family left Rome to adopt the elderly Pepe, an affectionate four-legged friend who, due to his advanced age, 15 years, was feared unable to find someone willing to take care of him. After an appeal launched on social media from the Stefano Cerni kennel, however, his photo was immediately noticed by a Roman family who had recently lost a dog very similar to Pepe and who generously decided to adopt him.
It is one of the many happy ending stories of ‘Fido’ with a complex past behind it which now, thanks to the work of the operators of the structure in via San Salvatore and many families with big hearts, they can start a new life, made of warmth and affection.
Like that of Kora for example, one a bit dodgy and distrustful, which has been in the Rimini kennel for many years. Due to her apparently fearful nature, Kora had to wait a long time before finding someone who wanted to take care of her, until the good news arrived months ago. Now, in fact, the tender little dog he enjoys his life at home with the company of not only his humanbut also of a dog and a cat.
Or again, 2022 saw the adoption of Aaron, a doberman entered the kennel following a series of biting episodesthat after being accompanied by a dog trainer by Stefano Cerni, it was welcomed by a family who manages it without any difficulty, with competence and love.
Those of Pepe, Kora and Aron represent three of the many stories of redemption and hope who pass by the Rimini kennel, whose volunteers and operators welcome many ‘man’s best friends’ in difficulty every year, in order to take care of them and give them a better future.
During 2022, 126 dogs enteredof which 18 for relinquishment of ownership. The total adoptions, however, were 66. The year before, in 2021, there had been 57 adoptions compared to 141 entries, which confirms the ever-increasing sensitivity of the Rimini community and the centrality of the kennel.
Adoption is a beautiful act of generosity – says the councilor for animal rights and welfare, Francesca Mattei – but which at the same time must be the result of a careful choice, not a passing whim. Must be convinced before sharing a daily life with an animalwhether it’s a dog or a cat.”
