Ice hockey: Innsbruck clearly claimed the top
The KAC had to bow to the second in Bozen with 1:2 after extra time. The Moser Medical Graz 99ers lost out to Hydro Fehervar with 0:3. Trailing light Pioneers Vorarlberg go down in Brunico with 0:9.
In Villach, not quite 3,000 fans didn’t see a goal for over half an hour. In the 34th minute, however, both teams wrote within seven seconds. Nico Feldner scored for Innsbruck, Kevin Moderer immediately scored the 1:1. In the final third, the visitors defeated Alexander Schmidt, who had replaced the suspended JP Lamoureux in the VSV goal, four more times. Tyler Coulter (43′, 44′) and Braeden Shaw (54′) and Martin Ulmer (56′) scored the goals with a power play double hit in a manner well worth seeing.
KAC keeps up for a long time
KAC kept the strong Bozen team in check with skillful play and thanks to their strong goalie Sebastian Dahm for a long time. After a nice goal by Fabian Hochegger (33′), the record champions led 1-0 until the 44th minute before Mitch Hults equalized after a pass from his brother Cole. It then remained at 1:1, which went into extra time. In this the South Tyroleans had the better end for themselves. Brad McClure fixes home win number 14 in the 16th game after a little more than three minutes.
In the duel with Salzburg, captain Brian Lebler (19th) gave Linz the lead. Shortly before the end of the first section, like Mario Huber, outnumbered. The 1:1 held in front of 3,700 spectators until the end of regular time and also survived extra time. The Black Wings prevailed in the penalty shoot-out, thereby celebrating their first home win against Salzburg in over four years.
