The year of our heroes of tomorrow and the day after tomorrow
How can actually the past twelve months of our youngsters? Well, they were with me two titles and two near-coronations extremely successful! We look back.
UEFA Youth League
Our lads came out on top in a group with Sevilla, Lille and Wolfsburg. In March 2022, Roko Simic & Co. started with an away appearance at MSK Zilina into the knockout phase. In the end we sat down against the brave Slovaks in a penalty shootout through.
The subsequent quarter-finals brought the Aufhauser collective a showdown with the Paris Saint-Germain youth hopes. Our Young Bulls didn’t let themselves be deterred by the 0:1 shock after just a few seconds. Thanks to an increase in performance in section two, we triumphed 3-1.
The qualification for the prestigious “Final Four” in Nyon was thus fixed. on the “guest list”: Juventus Turin, Benfica Lisbon and Atletico Madrid. Just with the latter, our youngsters matched for a place in the final. And it is precisely this semi-final that will probably happen to us Long remembered remain! An ice-cold double packer named Roko Simic, Dijon Kameri with a crazy powerful shot into the Kreuzeck and Tolgahan Sahin, who finalized from almost 30 meters – the trio laid the foundation for the sensational 5-0 win. Despite the 0:6 disillusionment in the final against Benfica Lisbon, this journey by Rene Aufhauser & Co. was probably one for eternity extremely significant.
But that’s not all: In the current season – this time under coach Fabio Ingolitsch – our U19 men are preparing to achieve great things. In a group with Chelsea, AC Milan and Dinamo Zagreb, he succeeded rise as second. Already at the beginning of February it is UYL intermediate round to hold their own against the Young Boys Bern and not fall over against those Wankdorfers.
ÖFB youth leagues
Tomorrow’s UEFA Youth League heroes and ours potential premier class darlings of the day after tomorrow were extremely successful this calendar year. Our U18 “academics” secured the Austrian championship six rounds before the end – and that with a historic points record: They won 22 of 24 games and gave up only five points. Incidentally, in the game report of the final U18 appearance in the past season, with Tolgahan Sahin, Raphael Hofer and Zeteny Jano you will find three players who yes already in the short training camp in Malta were allowed to put on their pounds at FC Red Bull Salzburg!
The successors from the current season are similarly stylish. After eleven rounds, coach Daniel Beichler has 30 points and a comfortable lead in the standings.
According to the current status, we are even allowed to use one again AKA triple ogling like us already in 2021 succeeded. Both the U16s – only because of the worse goal difference compared to Rapid Wien 2021/22 runners-up – and our U15 team (reigning champions) laugh with a respectful distance from the top of the league!
