Here you can shop on the holidays
Want to buy another gift quickly? Or the red cabbage for roasting? You can find out where this is still possible on the public holidays in Cologne in our overview.
If you didn’t manage to get all the presents in time before Christmas, there are still many ways to catch up in Cologne even on Christmas Eve. Many shops in the city center are open until 2 p.m. on December 24th. For example “Douglas” on Schildergasse, “Galeria Kaufhof” on Breite Strasse or the “Mayersche Buchhandlung” on Neumarkt.
If you need more time, a detour to the main station is a good idea. There, for example, “Douglas” is open until 4 p.m. on December 24, the cosmetics manufacturer “Rituals” and many other shops even until 8 p.m. The same applies to the shops at Cologne-Bonn Airport, which are open until 8 p.m. or even around the clock in some cases.
Where to go for rolls and groceries?
Many supermarkets are still open until 2 p.m. on December 24th. In the main train station and at the airport, “Rewe” offers shopping around the clock with its “To Go” markets, even on public holidays.
The “Merzenich” bakery chain opens its branches on Christmas Eve until 2 p.m., and in some cases the doors open again until 1 p.m. on Christmas Day. There is a precise overview of all branches and opening hours here.
