Turkish-Chinese Letter Writing Competition Ends in Istanbul
ISTANBUL, December 22 (Xinhua) — IstanbulCreated in Turkish- Chinese The letter writing competition ended on Wednesday.
In the competition called “Silk Road Letters” organized by the Turkish-Chinese Cultural Association, learners from China and Turkey who received language training were asked to write letters in the final languages.
“We were running the competition with the aim of raising awareness about the Silk Road, as well as creating lasting friendships between Turkish and Chinese teachers,” said İrfan Karslı, President of the Turkish-Chinese Cultural Association, in his speech in an online broadcast held after the end of the competition.
One of the award-winning letters mentions the connection between Turkish and Chinese ceramic art, including the birth of the famous ceramic art in Turkey after the departure of 15th-century Chinese porcelain to the Ottoman court.
In his speech at the ceremony, China’s Acting Consul General in Istanbul Wu Jian said, “I was impressed by the desire of Turkish university students to understand China and its culture. I also felt the enthusiasm of Chinese university students who want to deepen the Sino-Turkish cultural interaction.” Wu adds that the childhood exchange, deep understanding and friendship between the two countries will be beneficial until the end of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
