During the concert, Christmas music was performed by, among others, Fredrik Benedict Nybladh, Molly Sandén, Linda Lampenius, Janne Schaffer, Anna Sahlene and the choir Laudes. The event, which took place in Stockholm’s trendy Vasastan neighborhood on December 21, saw Sofia battle it out for another knockout couture designer, following her stylish appearance at the Nobel Prize Gala.

Sticking to royal protocol with tonal shades and a decent outfit, Sofia went all navy for the occasion in a stunning blue midi dress. Couples who slay together obviously stay together, as her husband Prince Carl Philip opted for a matching navy tie that coordinated her ensemble.
Sofia flaunted Swedish design and donned an embroidered Swedish organza dress from the couture designer Lars Wallinwhich has a long history of dressing members of the Swedish royal family (more on that later.) She paired it with navy suede ‘Denise’ pumps from Stockholm-based shoe designer Stinaa J. and a matching navy Marzio Stockholm velvet flat.

Who is Lars Wallin?
Founded in 1990, by designer Lars Wallin, the opening of the eponymous couture house marked the start of his career as Sweden’s only “genuine couturier”. In 1995, Lars was awarded the prestigious Gold Button from Sweden’s leading women’s fashion magazine Damernas Värld just five years after he started his brand.
The very first design that Lars Wallin created for the Swedish court was the dress worn by Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden at the Nobel Banquet in 2000. It was a significant moment in Lars’ career considering that the Nobel Banquet is watched by millions around the world and it was the Crown Princess herself who wore the dress. Victoria has actually worn the dress on several occasions since the banquet.
Lars Wallin has designed many dresses for members of the court since then. His personal favourite, according to an acknowledgment on his website, is the ice blue dress that Crown Princess Victoria wore to the Nobel Banquet in 2003, “It had a very grand and regal feel to it,” explains Lars. Lars brought in some historical aspects by choosing fabrics in the same color as the Royal Order of Seraphim.
He has also designed more than 150 stage costumes for the ballet Gustav III that was performed at the Royal Opera and in 2022 he was named by Stockholm’s Fashion District as the winner of the Uppmuntran til action prize for sustainable identity. The award was given to him for “always maintaining a focus on well-tailored, high-quality garments with the longest possible lifespan, while raising awareness of sustainable choices.”
