Bottle with message thrown into the sea in North Carolina arrives in Portugal
youA bottle with a message inside thrown into the ocean by a high school senior in the US state of North Carolina, in 2020, was found on a beach in Portugal, more than two years later.
Charles Temple, an English teacher at Ocracoke School in Hyde County, explained that it’s been a five-year tradition. The finalist class will take a boat trip and even message-in-bottles to the Gulf Stream.
The messages consist of handwritten notes about graduation programs.
Temple said she never received news of any of the bottles having been found, until Elena Bretan tagged the school in a Facebook post, where she explained that she had found a message inside a bottle, last Saturday, on a beach in Setúbal – almost 6 thousand kilometers away.
In the note was a photograph with the eight students from the graduating class and a note saying that it had been taken on July 26, 2020.
“How cool is this?” wrote the school when sharing Elena’s post on their social media page.
The professor understood that the bottle was next to Alan Doshier, who probably does not yet know that it was found, as he currently works on a fishing boat in the Bahamas.
