Solution found for vet emergency service – salzburg.ORF.at
Animals
There is now a solution for the vet emergency service at night and on weekends. The veterinarians take turns in a roster for both the small animals and the farm animals. The country pays one million euros.
The doctors negotiated this result in coordination with the state veterinary directorate and the chamber of veterinarians. The state of Salzburg is making one million euros available for this, said state veterinarian director Josef Schöchl: “There will be a continuous emergency service in the central area, i.e. in the city of Salzburg in Flachgau and in Tennengau, so that the animal owner can do it during the day in normal times, but then in the At night from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. or on weekends and Sundays and public holidays, find a veterinarian who will also treat the small animal.”
New emergency number from January 1st
From January 1st there will be an emergency number that pet owners must call. In the background, they are then forwarded to the person on duty, so that the animal owner, who is probably already stressed out by the injured animal, does not have to search for a long time, but is forwarded to the right place.
“It is stipulated that four weekend shifts in Flachgau and Pinzgau, two veterinarians each in Tennengau and Pongau, and one in Lungau are on duty, so that it is ensured that there is veterinary care for large animals here,” so Schochl.
However, what the animal emergency number WILL be has yet to be clarified.
